Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a full-time Lifeguard to monitor both indoor and outdoor pool and spa areas, ensure member safety, enforce rules, and maintain cleanliness. The role may include teaching swimming classes when needed.

Applicants should have at least a high school diploma, up to six months of lifeguard experience preferred, and must obtain Lifeguard, BLS-HCP and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire; Water Safety Instructor (WSI) is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of high school education.
• Six months lifeguard experience preferred.
• Lifeguard, AHA BLS-HCP and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire; Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitors members behavior to ensure safety at the pool and spa areas; maintains cleanliness and pool chemical balances.
• Enforces rules and safety regulations in pool and spa areas; notifies manager of issues.
• Checks chemical balance of pools and spa; operates pumps, vacuum, backwash and draining when needed.
• Teaches swimming lessons when needed.
• Wears proper uniform and follows replacement procedures if unable to work a shift.
