Job summary

Kings County is seeking a Full-Time Library Assistant I/II for the Lemoore Branch. Level I salary range is $36,150.40 to $44,116.80 annually; Level II range is $39,748.80 to $48,505.60 annually.

The role supports daily library operations, circulation, patron assistance, and community programming to promote learning. Responsibilities include checkout, fines, reference, outreach, inter-library loan, and helping maintain the library collection and databases.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent.
• One year of general office or retail experience with customer service or public contact duties (Library Assistant I).
• One year of experience at a level equivalent to Library Assistant I (Library Assistant II).
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
• Qualify for security clearance via background check and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Conducts circulation activities (check in/out, fines, policies).
• Assists with reference duties and children’s programming; refers complex issues upward.
• Performs community outreach and educational activities; prepares flyers and materials.
• Reserves library materials and handles inter-library loan requests; maintains services directory.
• Maintains library materials, shelves, and databases; trains staff and volunteers as needed.
