Job summary

Jekyll Island is seeking a Landscaper I/II to perform small-scale landscaping tasks and maintain grounds under supervision. This full-time on-site role supports coordinated plantings, soil prep, fertilization, seeding, and shrub transplanting across assigned areas.

The position requires 18+, a valid driver's license, and 1–2 years in landscape or golf course maintenance. Storm response, teamwork, and reliability are valued, with benefits and retirement mentioned in the posting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid driver’s license; CDL a plus for Landscaper II.
• One to two years of relevant experience in golf course maintenance or landscape work (II).
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable.
• Must be self-motivated and reliable.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar but essential job functions.
• Ability to work within a team.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality required.

Responsibilities

• Hauls plant materials to and from work sites and assists with unloading trucks and delivering materials.
• Performs essential tasks such as pulling weeds, picking up trash and plant debris, and raking pine straw.
• Pick up trash and remove debris after storms or wind events.
• Operates mowing equipment, weed eaters, blowers, and edgers to maintain turf and beds.
• Place straw and mulch around bases of trees, plants, and shrubs to conserve moisture and protect roots.
• Prune trees, shrubs, and ornamentals using hand and power tools.
• Spray around trees, plants, and shrubs with herbicides as directed and apply nutrients as needed.
• Fills in for Crew Leader when needed.
• May be required to respond within 24 hours during storms for cleanup and readiness.
