Job summary

San Diego Post Acute is hiring a full-time Cook in our food services department. The role involves maintaining a clean kitchen, preparing meals for residents, and assisting with serving. Experience in hospitals or long-term care facilities is preferred, with a ServSafe certificate required or pursued.

The facility values safety, diet accuracy, and teamwork across departments. The position offers a pay range of $18.00 to $22.00 per hour based on experience, with medical, dental, vision, and 401k

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for not less than one year.
• Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes; present information to managers and employees.
• Mathematical skills: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate; PCC knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
• Prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures for meals.
• Prepare pureed foods.
• Assist with serving meals and clean cooking areas.
• Report resident care concerns to Administrator/Director of Nurses.
• Attend orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
• Ensure food presentation is appealing to residents.
