Job summary

Environmental Learning Center in Vero Beach, FL is seeking a Guest Services Specialist to welcome visitors, answer inquiries, and guide guests through programs and events.

Guest Services Specialist - Full TimeThe schedule for this full-time position is Friday through Tuesday. Benefits include generous time off, holiday pay, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.Reports to - Guest Services Manager and Executive DirectorBack-up - Campus Connections Coordinator and part-time Guest Services staff, Operations Manager, Finance Manager, Development OfficerOverview Statement of Position Duties and Responsibilities - Responsible for welcoming guests to campus, answering phone inquiries, collecting admissions and providing information about campus activities. Assists customers with shopping in the gifts area, including ringing up purchases of items, programs and events.Detailed Duties and Responsibilities -

• Greet all guests who come to the Welcome Center and ensure that they are well informed about current activities and ELC in general. Offer ELC explorer backpacks to children.
• Receive admission fees from guests; manage cash drawer and credit card sales (Square).
• Inquire whether the guest is a member; encourage membership if not a current member including explanation of membership benefits and use of membership software.
• Assist with the gift shop (Nature Nook) to include inventory, sales, pricing, stocking, and entering items into the Point of Sale system.
• Monitor the cleanliness of the Welcome Center and perform daily cleaning of Welcome Center as needed, such as vacuuming.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all ELC programming and events:o Read newsletter, website, social media, and internal and public calendars to stay current on offerings.o Arrange for desk coverage to attend staff meetings and departmental meetings.o Book excursions for guests via phone or in-person inquiries and educate guests about excursions (pontoon trips, water excursions) using the FareHarbor booking system.o Book and be able to explain programming events such as children’s programming, family adventures, and one-time events.o Book and explain wellness offerings.
• Other duties for individual specialists may include such activities as leading guided nature tours, help guests with kayaks.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities - Multitasker, great customer service, detail oriented, works well with the public, good communication skills, cash-handling skills, strong technology skills needed. Strong passion for environmental education and knowledge of Florida flora and fauna preferred.
