Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a cemetery grounds maintenance worker to prepare for and service funerals, and perform general maintenance at all Catholic Cemetery locations. The role is multifaceted and involves outdoor labor as part of SIUE Local 1.

Training is provided and duties vary with events and seasons. Responsibilities include operating cemetery equipment and performing routine lawn and shrub care, opening/closing graves, setting up tents, and assisting with cemetery foundation

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• CDL or actively working towards obtaining CDL.
• Experience operating cemetery/gardening equipment and machinery is preferred.
• Ability to perform outdoor grounds maintenance and basic mechanical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of all sections and equipment.
• Opening and closing of graves and crypts.
• Tent set up and take down.
• Placement of casket in crypt, grave or outer container and back filling grave.
• Install memorial foundations, set or reset memorial work.
• General maintenance and Endowed Care work, including lawn mowing, weed trimming, shrub trimming and tree care.
• Training provided.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Light duty work is not available.

Job Summary
