Job summary

The Waterfront Rescue Mission is seeking a Food Services Coordinator to oversee daily kitchen operations and support meal service for Mobile ministry programs. This on-site, full-time role emphasizes safety-minded leadership and teamwork.

The position reports to the Director of WRM-Mobile Mission and Operations Manager, focusing on menu development, staffing, inventory, and training while ensuring ServSafe standards and public health compliance across all food service activities.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
• High school diploma or GED; 2–5 years related food service experience.
• Food services management experience is a plus.
• Christian commitment and strong ethics values required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
• Complete inventories of kitchen supplies and maintain temperature logs.
• Develop healthy weekly menus and schedule meal preparation, service and cleanup.
• Manage orders for food and kitchen supplies.
• Ensure food safety: proper refrigeration, cooking, thawing and serving.
• Maintain facilities and equipment per ServSafe guidelines.
• Train staff and clients in proper hand washing and safety practices.
• Inspect kitchen using AGRM compliance checklists.
• Coordinate Thanksgiving and Christmas community meals.
• Ensure clients working in the kitchen gain beneficial experience.
• Travel for training as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Make schedules and cleaning.

Under the supervision of the Director of WRM-Mobile Mission and Operations Manager, this position oversees the day to day operations of the kitchen and food services of the Mobile ministry programs.

Qualifications:

Christian Commitment: Must exemplify and model Christian behaviors and values and possess high levels of ethics, honesty and character.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two-five years related experience and/or training in the food service industry; food services management experience is a plus.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• This position will obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
• Completes inventories of kitchen supplies and ensures that temperature logs are maintained.
• Manages the development of healthy weekly menus for clients and schedules the staffing for meal preparation, service, and clean-up.
• Oversees the development, placement, and reception of orders for food and other kitchen supplies.
• Ensures that all food products are refrigerated, cooked, thawed and served in a safe and timely manner.
• Maintains facilities appliances, equipment and stored food in accordance with ServSafe guidelines and public health directives.
• Ensure proper cooking of all meats at the required temperature & for the prescribed length of time as directed by ServSafe standards and public health directives.
• Ensures that all donated cooked foods are marked with the date and time and are stored properly in the refrigeration units.
• Ensures that cooking and serving surfaces are cleaned & sanitized and floors are cleaned and free of grease and other safety hazards.
• Instructs staff and clients in proper hand washing techniques and practices.
• Inspects kitchen utilizing the AGRM compliance checklists that have been developed.
• Coordinates the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday's community meals, etc.
• Ensures the clients working in the kitchen are trained and that their experience is beneficial to their recovery.
• Maintains and provides appropriate training of department Material Safety Data Sheets. Ensures all employees are aware of the location of the Safety Data Sheets and is aware of how to handle any and all hazardous materials in the department.
• Some travel may be necessary for training & temporary duty.
• Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other Mission management.
