Job summary

Orleans Southwest Hazen Union School in Hardwick, Vermont is seeking a Floating Support Staff Member to serve as a full-time substitute for school employees when they are absent. The role focuses on substituting, supporting, and performing clerical duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will supervise and assist students daily, maintain classroom order, and follow district policies. Starting date is immediate and pay ranges from $21 to $27 per hour, under the Support Staff Master Agreement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Age 21 years or older to work with students in grades 7-12.
• At least 38 college credits may be required to obtain Highly Qualified status.
• Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Google platforms and data entry.
• Must pass a full background check.

Responsibilities

• Use materials provided to attain lesson goals.
• Direct the classroom, accomplishing curriculum objectives and goals outlined in the lesson plans.
• Take attendance according to the procedures of the school, keep the classroom and work orderly, and maintain normal classroom rhythms.
• Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all times.
• Maintain a professional attitude with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality.
