Job summary

Northumberland County Children & Youth Services is seeking a County Social Services Aide 2 to provide hands-on support to children and families, deliver parent education in homes and community sites, and connect families to community resources.

You will document progress, assist with transportation and child care coordination, guide visits, and participate in team planning and court-related activities as needed. The role is full-time, on-site, with standard business hours and no telework.

Qualifications

• One year of County Social Services Aide 1 or related public contact work experience.
• Graduate from high school or equivalent; or an associate’s degree in related social sciences.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training; applicants may be within 3 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing parent education services in homes and parent center locations to support family growth and development
• Facilitate individual and group programs focused on parenting skills, budgeting, self-esteem, discipline, and other family-centered topics
• Connect parents with appropriate community resources and assist with service planning and family needs
• Maintain case records, document client progress, and participate in team meetings to review and update goals
• Provide transportation services, help coordinate child care arrangements, and support families in accessing needed services
• Monitor parent-child visits, encourage positive communication techniques, and participate in training and court-related activities when required
