Job summary

Children's Home Society of South Dakota is hiring a Full Time Facilities Worker to maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds. The role includes responding to maintenance requests, driving and basic repairs, with a Monday–Friday schedule in Rapid City, SD.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, clean, and well-functioning buildings, grounds, and facilities by completing inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and upkeep activities.
• Perform general maintenance duties, including painting, carpentry, light electrical work, light plumbing, and other facility repair tasks.
• Support facility operations, including vehicles, tools, equipment, and building systems safety and compliance.
• Assist with landscaping, snow removal, event setup/teardown, and timely task completion.
• Identify, report, and address maintenance needs and priorities while maintaining work orders and records.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain safe, clean, and well-functioning buildings, grounds, and facilities by completing inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and upkeep activities.
• Perform general maintenance duties, including painting, carpentry, light electrical work, light plumbing, and other facility repair tasks, ensuring work is completed accurately and within established timeframes.
• Maintain and support the safe operation of agency vehicles, tools, equipment, and building systems while adhering to safety, licensing, accreditation, and agency standards.
• Support seasonal and operational needs, including landscaping, snow removal, and event setup and teardown, ensuring tasks are completed promptly and effectively.
• Identify, report, and address maintenance needs, safety concerns, damage, and repair priorities while maintaining accurate work orders and maintenance records.
• Coordinate and manage maintenance materials, supplies, parts, and tools to ensure resources are available to support facility operations.
• Foster a positive environment through responsive customer service and professional interactions with staff, clients, visitors, and community members, contributing to positive feedback regarding facility appearance and safety.
• Participate in maintenance team meetings, required training, quality improvement initiatives, and other assigned duties while safely performing physical job requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

Education

• High school degree required.

Experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires standing for extended periods of time. Some exposure to cleaning chemicals, requiring attentive and safe utilization.
