Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Early Learning Site Aide for the New Adventures Early Learning Center in Tacoma, WA. You will assist the Lead Teacher in planning and delivering early learning services year-round, maintaining a safe, clean, and inclusive environment for all children.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, are at least 18, and possess or be willing to obtain relevant certifications (CPR/First Aid, health screenings, and CACFP knowledge).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• One or more years of experience in an Early Learning Center is required.
• Willingness to obtain an Early Childhood Education Initial Certificate.
• CPR, First Aid, TB Test, Food Handler’s Card, Child Care Basic STARS, MMR vaccine and Merit account are required or obtainable.
• Flexible and able to adapt to meet the needs of children and program.
• Desire to have fun, engage with children and inspire creativity.
• Committed to diversity and inclusivity.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in planning, organizing, and implementing Early Learning Center services and programs.
• Maintain site and equipment and ensure cleaning procedures.
• Attend and participate in family nights and program activities.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and parents.
• Engage children and keep the program compliant with state licensing standards.
• Help with cleanliness and order in facilities and community sites.
• Represent the YMCA positively to participants and families.
• Follow all policies, procedures and training including CACFP guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with Site Leaders, Directors and Program Directors.
• Support curriculum implementation and create an inclusive, child-centered environment.
• Assist with staff leadership tasks and campaign activities as needed.
• Provide touchpoint cleaning in designated areas.
