Job summary

Chicanos Por La Causa (HELP New Mexico) is seeking a dedicated substitute for early childhood classrooms serving children aged 0-5 in Deming, NM. You will help with daily routines, activities, meals, and safe supervision to promote school readiness.

The role emphasizes caring communication, adherence to Head Start standards, and teamwork with center staff. A CDA or willingness to obtain it within 6 months is required, with CPR/First Aid and food handler certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDA preferred or willingness to obtain CDA within 6 months.
• TB test or Chest X-ray may be required.
• First Aid/CPR certification or must obtain within first 6 months of employment.
• Food Handlers card required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide temporary classroom coverage and maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment for ages 0-5.
• Assist with daily routines, activities, transitions, meals, rest, and supervision.
• Support readiness and development while following Head Start and licensing requirements.
• Actively supervise children and maintain health and safety practices.
