Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line in Kentucky is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to load and unload freight, using forklifts and manual methods while following DOT safety guidelines. You will help secure cargo, read labels, and support yard operations to ensure on-time deliveries.

This full-time, on-site role requires the ability to stand/walk for long periods, operate a handheld device, and work a rotating shift schedule. OD promotes from within and provides comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience with safe lifting and freight procedures.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms and manifests.
• Ability to operate a dock yard management system for tracking shipments.
• Willingness to work varying shifts and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts or manual methods per DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight within the service center across surfaces.
• Monitor freight locations with the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete forms such as manifests and freight bills.
• Secure freight inside trailers with straps and airbags.
• Ensure the quality loading of all trailers.
