Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, using forklifts or hand tools, while following DOT safety guidelines to prevent damage and injuries.

You will read shipping labels, secure freight with straps and airbags, and maintain accurate records. This role requires stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced service center.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Knowledge of freight transportation procedures.
• Familiarity with shipping forms such as bills, manifests, freight bills and reports.
• Ability to use the dock yard management system to monitor shipment locations.
• Must be available to work at all times to meet schedules.
• Ability to operate handheld tablet when needed.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight within the service center on various surfaces.
• Monitor freight shipment locations with the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete forms used in freight movement.
• Secure freight inside trailers using straps and airbags.
