Job summary

Clarendon College is seeking a Custodial Staff member responsible for the cleaning of all college buildings and facilities. The role includes floor care, window and surface cleaning, trash removal, and routine maintenance of floors and carpets, following a scheduled plan.

The position also requires moving furniture for events, contributing to college activities, and adherence to all campus policies. Physical work includes lifting and standing for long periods as part of daily duties.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning of all floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, sidewalks, furnishings, and trash removal in all buildings and facilities on a scheduled basis including: i. Mopping ii. Sweeping iii. Vacuuming iv. Shampooing carpets v. Dusting vi. Scrubbing and washing vii. Applying chemicals and conditioners viii. Striping, buffing and polishing
• Move and/or set-up furniture and college facilities for college and/or special events, as assigned
• Work on standing and ad hoc committees of the College, as assigned
• Support College activities and special events through attendance and/or participation
• Comply with all College policies, rules and regulations
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Custodial Services.

NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION:

The custodial staff reports directly to the Custodial Director and is responsible for performing the overall cleaning of all college buildings and facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Cleaning of all floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, sidewalks, furnishings, and trash removal in all buildings and facilities on a scheduled basis including:
   • i. Mopping
   • ii. Sweeping
   • iii. Vacuuming
   • iv. Shampooing carpets
   • v. Dusting
   • vi. Scrubbing and washing
   • vii. Applying chemicals and conditioners
   • viii. Striping, buffing and polishing

POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

All positions require average agility and good physical condition. Workers must be able to lift 50 pounds. Work requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, crawling, repetitive motion, working above the head, and other physical exertion.
