Job summary

Responsibilities

• Replace light bulbs and report any facility defects to the custodial foreman.
• Follow safety requirements and energy conservation measures.

Job description

The overall duties and responsibilities of this position are the cleaning and upkeep of college facilities to include movement of furniture and replacement of light bulbs.

High school Diploma or equivalent required.

Six months wage earning related experience in Custodial Services or Vocational training certificate in Custodial Services.

Day shift 5:00am to 2:00pm Mon-Fri

• Sufficient ability and stamina to perform custodial duties and assist in moving furniture and office equipment as required.
• Must to able to read and understand container labels, and to understand and follow through on verbal instructions.
• Must have sufficient command of the English Language (i.e. able to read and write) to accomplish assigned responsibilities.

• Perform the following tasks: maintain the assigned building in a high state of cleanliness, empty trash cans and replace liners as required, polish furniture, clean and disinfect sinks, urinals, commodes and chrome in bathrooms, clean cigarette urns and stainless steel cans, clean windows, walls, woodwork, tile and painted surfaces, vacuum carpets daily, mop tile and terrazzo floors daily, buff floors weekly and apply wax as needed, be watchful for defects in the building and submit mini work orders for these defects to the custodial foreman
• Custodians will assist in the compliance with security and energy conservation measures: doors to all offices will be kept locked except when in use or being cleaned, and lights will be turned on only in the office in which the custodian is working.
• Custodians will report to shift supervisor of any supplies or materials needed.
• Custodians will comply with the safety requirements established by the Occupational Safety and Health Act, State authorities, and CTC policies.
• Pull trash from offices, restrooms, hallways, classrooms, and replace plastic bags in containers.
• Completely clean and service bathrooms: floors, commodes, urinals, face bowls, mirrors, and wash walls and dividers in restroom.
• Clean all classrooms, vacuum where needed, dust and mop tile floors, clean water fountains, strip wax and buff floors as needed, empty pencil sharpeners as needed, clean and spot wash walls as needed and over-head dusting.
• Clean and dust computer tables, study tables, and bathroom vents, all office furniture, and replace light bulbs as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
