Job summary

Trinity Health MercyOne Clinton is seeking a Child Care Teacher Assistant for a full-time, day-shift role in Clinton, IA. You will assist the teacher in caring for children from 6 weeks to 9 years, supporting developmentally appropriate activities and a nurturing classroom environment.

Responsibilities include helping implement age-appropriate programs, communicating with families, and maintaining a safe, clean classroom.

Qualifications

CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
First aid certification within 3 months of hire if working >20 hours per pay period.
Passes a pre-employment health assessment and every three years thereafter.
Background checks for DHHS Child Abuse and Criminal Records every five years.
Must be 18+ years old (or 16+ if working with a Child Care Teacher).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in a preschool teaching environment.
First year training: 10 contact hours; subsequent years: 6+ hours for full-time; 5+ hours for part-time.
Training hours may cover child development, guidance, nutrition, health, safety, communication, professionalism, and cross-cultural competence.

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in the care of children ranging from 6 weeks to 9 years.
Support programs designed around the developmental needs of children.
Interact with children, parents, co-workers, volunteers and visitors to support a positive environment.
