Job summary

Montana State University’s Culinary Services Division (CSD) provides meals and beverages for thousands of customers daily and is an integral part of campus life. The cashier position trains to work primarily as a cashier and to monitor the service area floor, supporting a welcoming dining experience.

Open shifts are Tue–Sat, 12pm–8:30pm, with potential for day/evening, weekend, or holiday work as schedules demand.

Qualifications

• Must have 4-hour sanitation certification or ability to become certified.
• Must be able to understand and communicate in English with clear directions for safety and service.

Responsibilities

• Positively and professionally interacts with customers.
• Operates the cashier station to receive monies, use the point of sale, and reconcile cash daily.
• Follows MSU and Auxiliary Services cash handling policies and processes payments and settlements.
• Cleans work and service areas and related equipment.
• Assists with monitoring beverage service inventory and records.
• Assists with laundry service.
• Performs trash and compost removal duties.
• May assist with training student and temporary employees.
• Contributes to the team to support the department’s mission.
• Occasionally serves food and handles food safely per FDA codes.
• May assist with cleaning, disposition and storage of foods and supplies.
