Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport and Rockland, Maine is seeking a Full-Time Assistant Child Care Teacher to join our early childhood team. You will help children build confidence, explore, and learn through hands-on activities in a caring, inclusive setting.

This role offers great benefits, a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights, paid time off, holidays, and a YMCA family membership. Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid/AED, and a commitment to safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required; training provided.
• Willingness to complete Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
• Commitment to safe, nurturing, and inclusive care.
• Experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision of children at all times.
• Assist Lead Teacher in planning age-appropriate activities.
• Foster curiosity, creativity, and respectful interactions.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming classroom meeting standards.
• Build positive relationships with families and children.
• Follow YMCA policies and licensing regulations.
• Participate in trainings and program duties.
