Job summary

ContextGlobal, Inc. is hiring multiple full-time Educational ASL Interpreters to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students across DC Public Schools.

You will be embedded in a partner school for the full academic year, working with teachers, students, staff, and visiting professionals who rely on ASL. This is a school-calendar role with summers and breaks off; there is an option to pick up supplemental assignments.

Qualifications

• EIPA 3.5+ or NIC certification is required.
• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (ITP) is required; graduates of accredited ITPs preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of professional sign language interpreting experience in an educational setting is required.
• Strong working knowledge of K-12 educational vocabulary is expected.
• Proficiency in ASL and understanding of Deaf culture and RID Code of Professional Conduct is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide ASL interpretation for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff across academic and social settings.
• Voice for students and staff, and interpret for teachers, colleagues, and visiting professionals.
• Collaborate with the school's special education and IEP teams.
• Build trusting, age-appropriate relationships with students and families.

ContextGlobal, Inc. is hiring multiple full-time Educational ASL Interpreters to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff across DC Public Schools. You'll be embedded in a partner school for the full school year, working with teachers, students, staff, and visiting professionals who rely on ASL as their primary mode of communication.

This is a school-calendar role. You work the academic year and have summers and school breaks off, with the option to pick up supplemental assignments if you want them.

Pay & Benefits

• $40 up to $65 per hour, based on certification level and experience

What You'll Do

Required Qualifications

Interview Process

We review every application and reach out to qualified applicants within 2 business days to schedule an interpreting screening. Applicants who advance are then invited to a brief video interview with our ASL team.

After You're Hired

Because this position is in a public school, all hired interpreters complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting, a drug test, and a possible TB screening. ContextGlobal coordinates and covers the cost of these screenings.
