Job summary

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain required training/certifications and provide documentation to business office before expiration.
• Fully qualified education interpreter with EIPA 4.0 or equivalent or the ability to achieve 4.0 or above.
• Fluent in ASL or team-determined sign language, with strong written and spoken English.
• Must complete Michigan continuing education units to maintain licensure.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds and attend on-site daily.

Responsibilities

• Interpret all classroom verbal language using ASL.
• Explain new concepts to students using ASL.
• Help increase ASL vocabulary for students.
• Provide interpretation for school functions outside classroom hours.
• Collaborate with ISD and district staff to support students.
