Job summary

St. Joseph County ISD in Centreville, Michigan seeks a Language Facilitator to provide direct language instruction for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in one-on-one or small group settings. This is not an interpreter role, but a hands-on instructional support position.

The role reports to the Special Education Supervisor and requires a high school diploma, strong American Sign Language skills, and prior language facilitator experience. It includes 191 work days with hourly pay of $15.03–$16.39.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Previous experience as a Language Facilitator.
• Experience with students who have language deprivation.
• Ability to read and comprehend written program plans and class instructions.
• Must maintain required trainings and certifications and provide documentation.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds and attend regularly.
• Must be present at the designated job site daily.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with teachers to meet student needs.
• Monitors comprehension and reinforces instruction/behavior as directed.
• Explains vocabulary, reinforces instruction, and supports classroom communication.
• Assists with duties that support the classroom environment without hindering language facilitation.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the SJCSISD Administration.
