Job summary

Struthers City Schools Struthers Elementary School is seeking an Educational Interpreter for American Sign Language (ASL) for the 2026-27 school year. The interpreter will provide ASL interpretation for the Deaf student in classrooms and at school events, collaborating with teachers to ensure access to instruction.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in interpreter training, a current BCI/FBI background check, and Ohio Associate Licensing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited interpreter training program.
• Current BCI/FBI background check.
• Associate Licensing as an Interpreter for the Hearing Impaired in Ohio.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Experience in an educational setting preferred.
• Ability to interpret classroom lessons accurately and professionally.
• Work cooperatively with parents, staff, and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective ASL interpretation for classroom announcements, assemblies, field trips, and other school activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff to meet student needs in instruction.
• Preview educational materials shared by educators to interpret effectively.
• Share community resources and educational information with parents of students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with teachers, principals and staff to ensure language access in all settings.
• Engage in continuous learning regarding best practices in educational interpreting.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
