Job summary

Monterey County Office Of Education seeks an Educational Interpreter (Spreckels) to provide interpreting and instructional support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in general education and special education settings. Interpreters communicate via sign language, fingerspelling, and gestures within school activities, including extracurriculars.

Candidates must meet SEE/ASL interpreting requirements and hold or obtain required certifications.

Qualifications

• Education and experience: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in manually coded English and ASL with finger spelling and interpretation.
• Must have achieved a minimum score of 4.0 on EIPA/ESSE-I/R or NAD/ACCI assessment.
• Possess California Driver’s License with evidence of insurability and CPR/First Aid within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and instructional support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in various classrooms.
• Communicate using sign language, fingerspelling, natural gestures, and speech.
• Support teachers in general education and special education settings, including extracurricular activities.
• Assist with substitute teaching when licensed or permitted.
