Job summary

Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Iowa is seeking a dining room assistant to serve meals to residents, assist with plate preparation, and maintain sanitary conditions in dining and kitchen areas.

This role emphasizes high-quality food service for residents, staff and guests. Candidates should understand special diets, follow instructions, read and write English fluently, and maintain reliable attendance; weekend and holiday shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of special diets and how to serve and puree food in accordance with special needs.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Demonstrates good time management skills to ensure timely duties.
• Able to do simple calculations.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.

6am to 2:30pm with E/O weekend and E/O holiday

Responsible for serving of meals to the residents in the dining room; assisting residents as needed with preparation of their plates; maintaining sanitary conditions in the dining room, serving kitchen and kitchen areas. Assures quality food service for our residents, staff and guests.
