Job summary

GE HealthCare’s MIM Commercialized Web Applications team seeks a Software Engineering Intern to contribute to cloud and on-prem web apps, with mentorship from experienced engineers in a regulated healthcare setting.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, HTML, and related tools while delivering real features for MIMcloud and MIM Anyware.

Qualifications

• Some experience writing code in coursework, projects, or internships.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or physics.
• General problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical thinking.
• Communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute full-stack changes to the codebases of MIMcloud and/or MIM Anyware.
• Document code, design specifications, and cybersecurity threat models.
• Test code and write unit tests.
• Work closely with experienced software engineers, including a personal mentor.
• Learn about software engineering principles in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Learn about development of regulated medical software and features with real-world impact.

Job Description Summary Join GE HealthCare's MIM Commercialized Web Applications team and help build software that healthcare providers will use every day. As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll contribute to cloud and on-prem web applications, work alongside experienced engineers and a dedicated mentor, and gain hands‑on experience with modern full‑stack technologies while developing software in a regulated healthcare environment. *Please note this position is an in‑office position at our Beachwood, Ohio site. Job Description *Please note this position is an in‑office position at our Beachwood, Ohio site. As a Software Engineering Intern at GE Healthcare for our MIM Commercialized Web Applications team, you will contribute to our web applications sold to customers – MIMcloud and MIM Anyware. MIMcloud is a software‑as‑a‑service (SaaS) web application which enables secure, HIPAA‑compliant cloud‑based storage and exchange of medical images between clinical facilities. MIM Anyware is an on‑premise web application which virtualizes access to our main desktop medical imaging application (MIM) through a web browser.

What You’ll Do:

• Contribute full-stack changes to the codebases of MIMcloud and/or MIM Anyware.
• Document code, design specifications, and cybersecurity threat models
• Test code and write unit tests
• Work closely with experienced software engineers, including a personal mentor
• Learn about software engineering principles in an industry environment
• Learn about engineering best practices for development of regulated medical software
• Work on real features with a real‑world impact on customers

• Languages: Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, HTML, SASS/CSS
• Frameworks: KTOR, React, JUnit
• Database: PostgreSQL
• Amazon Web Services: ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3

MIM Anyware

• Languages: Java, Scala, TypeScript, HTML, SASS/CSS
• Frameworks: Play! Web Framework, React, Bootstrap, jOOQ, Flyway, JUnit
• Database: PostgreSQL
• Tooling: Git, GitLab, IntelliJ IDEA, sbt, and Docker

What You’ll Need:

• Some experience writing code in coursework, projects, or previous internships
• An active pursuit of a bachelor's degree, preferably for computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or physics

• An existing understanding of medical imaging is not required
