Job summary

Cadence Design Systems in California seeks a skilled Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain UI tooling for the Processor Generator and related infrastructure. You will work across Eclipse based IDEs, Web apps, VS Code and Thea-based systems, shaping tooling used by processor teams and developers.

Responsibilities span the full product life cycle: analyze user needs, develop UI components, backend services, databases, and automated tests; and advance AI workflow integration.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent with 5+ years of related experience, or a BS + 7+ years.
• Strong coding skills in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript and Python.
• Experience building IDE-integrated or IDE-based applications.
• Experience building React apps that interact with SQL databases via REST.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases; testing for web and IDE apps.
• Fluent scripting on Windows and Linux; knowledge of computer architecture.
• Nice to have experience with AI agents and Agentic AI workflows.

We are looking for a skilled, creative Software Engineer to help design, build, and maintain our Processor Generator user interface systems and supporting infrastructure. User interface systems include Eclipse based products, Web applications and VS Code and Thea based systems. In this role, you will work across the full product life cycle - analyzing user needs; designing and developing UI components, backend systems, database interfaces, and web applications; and automated testing. You will also help shape the next generation of our tooling by integrating Agentic AI methodologies into our products. Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science or a related field + 5 years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree + 7 years of related experience
• Strong programming skills in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python
• Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to take initiative
• Experience building applications inside an IDE framework (Eclipse, VS Code or Thea)
• Experience building React web applications that interact with SQL databases based on REST services
• Experience working developing SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience designing / building test systems for web and IDE based applications
• Fluency working with and scripting tasks on Windows and Linux systems
• Foundational understanding of computer architecture
• Nice to Have Experience developing AI agents and Agentic AI workflows.

The annual salary range for California is $136,500 to $253,500. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
