Visionist is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer (Backend Focus) on a funded prime contract at Fort Meade. The role emphasizes data transformations, collaboration with analysts, and improving data processing performance.

A TS/SCI with polygraph is required and the team works closely with customers and mission leadership. You will develop backend data pipelines, work with modern front-end tech, and support production servers on a dynamic, employee-owned program.

Qualifications

• 8 years of software development experience or more.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (or 4 additional years of experience).
• Strong Python proficiency and data-frame experience.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with version control and modern front-end tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop data transforms across formats (text, JSON, XML, databases, configs).
• Gather feature requests and application requirements from stakeholders.
• Explore data sets with analysts to identify questions and approaches.
• Improve tools for data processing and application performance.
• Support mission-critical servers and participate in server framework development.

Your contributions are…

• Develop data transforms across a variety of formats, including text, JSON, XML, databases, and configuration files
• Gather feature requests and application requirements to understand project and customer needs
• Explore unfamiliar data sets and collaborate with analysts to identify the right questions and approaches
• Develop and enhance tools to improve application and data processing performance
• Manage and support mission-critical servers and applications, contributing to both server framework development and system administration

Requirements for your new career…

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. (Additional 4 years of experience may substitute degree)
• 8 years of experience in software development
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Experience working with data frameworks such as Pandas or Polars
• Experience with SQL and relational databases such as SQLite, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
• Familiarity with Git and GitLab for source control and collaborative development
• Familiarity with TypeScript/JavaScript and React or another modern front-end framework
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers and incorporating feedback
• Experience supporting applications and servers in production environments

Salary range: $150,000 - $190,000
