Job summary

Visionist is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to join critical missions supporting big data processing platforms. You will design, build, and maintain AI services at scale, leveraging AWS, Kubernetes, and modern observability tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. (Additional 2 years of experience may substitute degree)
• 6 years of experience in software development
• One of the following certifications: AWS Developer Associate, AWS ML Associate, AWS ML Specialty, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, CKAD
• Proven experience building and maintaining production systems at scale
• Experience designing and optimizing high-volume web application architectures
• Strong Python programming skills or equivalent
• Experience with observability tools and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize infrastructure to support AI model inference at scale
• Support development and maintenance of production AI services and applications, including retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and autonomous agents
• Navigate ambiguous requirements to define scalable, well-structured technical solutions
• Drive adoption of new technologies, tools, and best practices across engineering teams
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for AI services
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Ensure availability, reliability, performance, and scalability of AI platform components
• Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers

• Proficiency with Kubernetes administration and common deployment patterns
• Strong Python programming skills
• Experience implementing observability solutions such as APM, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Prometheus
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Demonstrated ability to drive change and influence across teams or organizations
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and create structure where needed
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Salary range:

$135,000 - $206,000
