Job summary

Knight Federal Solutions is hiring a full stack software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain software across the full technology stack. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable software solutions in an Agile setting.

The role requires 8+ years in software engineering, strong Python/Java skills, and experience with RESTful APIs, React/Angular, SQL, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering including development, testing, integration, or maintenance
• 5+ years developing applications with Python, Java, or another OO language
• 4+ years developing web apps with frontend technologies (React/Angular)
• Experience developing or integrating backend services and RESTful APIs
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL
• Experience with automated build, test, or CI/CD processes
• Experience in Agile development environments (Scrum or Kanban)
• Experience using Jira
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• We’re looking for a full stack developer with the skills needed to develop, integrate, test, and maintain software capabilities from requirements through production delivery. You’ll work across the technology stack and collaborate with other engineers, architects, product owners, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable and maintainable software solutions.
• You’ll participate in technical design discussions, troubleshoot application issues, conduct code reviews, and contribute to improvements in software quality and maintainability. You’ll work alongside senior engineers to evaluate technical approaches, learn new tools and technologies, and continuously improve the team's development and delivery practices.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including developing, testing, integrating, or maintaining software applications
• 5+ years of experience developing applications using Python, Java, or another objectoriented programming language
• 4+ years of experience developing web applications using frontend technologies or frameworks, such as React or Angular
• Experience developing or integrating backend services and RESTful APIs
• Experience developing applications using relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, and working with SQL
• Experience working with automated build, test, or CI/CD processes
• Experience working within Agile software development environments using methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
• Experience using software development and task management tools, such as Jira
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or additional software engineering experience in lieu of a degree

Desired Qualifications

• Experience developing production applications with Python
• Experience developing enterprise web applications
• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or event-driven architectures
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as CloudFormation
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Github Actions, Jenkins)
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies
• Experience with automated unit, integration, or end-to-end testing
• Experience with application authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, or observability
• Experience working in DevSecOps software delivery environments
• Experience leading projects and mentoring, teaching junior staff members
