Knight Federal Solutions Inc in Colorado Springs is seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to support DoD/IC missions with secure, scalable cloud and Windows-based systems.

You will manage Kubernetes clusters, AWS services, automation (PowerShell DSC, GPO), and collaborate with Cyber Security and Engineering to sustain high availability and implement DevOps improvements in a mixed cloud environment. A TS/SCI clearance is required.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, or 5+ years of related experience without a degree.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• 1+ year of experience working with AWS Cloud services.
• Ability to meet DoD 8570 IAT II requirements (Security+ or higher).
• Comfortable working in both remote and on-site environments.
• Willingness to complete a Counterintelligence Polygraph if required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A strong ‘customer first’ mindset.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as the primary escalation point for the service desk, tackling complex troubleshooting for applications, virtual workspaces, network and performance issues, and a variety of service requests
• Administer and maintain Windows systems, leveraging PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) and Group Policy Objects (GPO), and manage software bundles for diverse virtual desktop environments
• Oversee Kubernetes clusters in a private-cloud setting, including ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident response
• Deploy and maintain both commercial and custom software using AWS Cloud Services (EC2, EKS, S3, Workspaces, and more), ensuring proper snapshot management and system reliability
• Collaborate closely with Cyber Security and Engineering teams to optimize cloud solutions and support DevOps continuous improvement initiatives
• Analyze and support systems engineering functions for new system development, critical enhancements, and patching, all in line with established system engineering and configuration management processes
• Automate routine operational tasks and maintain automated job schedules to drive efficiency
• Use Jira to track Tier 2 issues and communicate ongoing work and status updates with customers

Cloud Operations Engineer

Clearance: TS/SCI

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado

Travel: 10%

Shift: Normal 0800 - 1600

Role Responsibilities:

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience — or, if you don’t have a degree, we welcome candidates with 5+ years of directly related experience
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• 1+ year of experience working with AWS Cloud services
• Ability to meet DoD 8570 IAT II requirements (Security+ or higher certification)
• Comfortable working in both remote and on-site environments
• Willingness to complete a Counterintelligence Polygraph if required
• Excellent communication skills
• A strong ‘customer first’ mindset

Desired Qualification:

• 2+ years of hands-on experience scripting with Python and Bash
• 2+ years of experience working in Agile environments
• 2+ years of leadership experience in a relevant technical area
• Technical certifications are a big plus, especially AWS Cloud Practitioner or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
