This is a remote position; however, the candidate must reside within 30 miles of one of the following locations: Portland, ME; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; and San Francisco Bay Area, CA.

About the Team/Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated, technically adept, and experienced professional to design, develop, and integrate BI applications and solutions, leading a team of high-performing engineers within our Data Technology organization. This role is crucial in shaping the future of our data platform, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our systems through software development and integration efforts. You will play a pivotal role in building a modern data platform designed to provide integrated, high-quality, rich, timely, and user-friendly data to support WEX's business growth. AI enablement with data is a key imperative for us, and our vision is to transform big data into big value for WEX and its customers through innovation, excellence, and partnership.

An ideal candidate will have proven experience in software development, with a core focus on developing and integrating BI applications and solutions within complex data architectures. You should have a background in designing, implementing, and managing BI applications in large organizations serving diverse business lines with significant impacts. Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills are essential. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment serving both internal and external customers is crucial.

How you'll make an impact

1. Lead a team of high-performing engineers, focusing on software development and integration of BI solutions, ensuring our data platform meets the needs of our internal and external customers.
2. Implement and standardize software development practices and technologies across the team to ensure consistency, quality, and automation.
3. Design and develop integration modules and custom solutions for BI tools, including AI-powered capabilities within our data architecture.
4. Lead the development of custom applications or features to extend BI tool capabilities, enhancing functionality and user experience.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect scalable, reliable, and high-performance data solutions that meet business requirements.
6. Create and maintain architecture maps of the BI solutions provided.
7. Manage software systems including upgrades, migrations, and patching.
8. Implement best practices such as code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines; experience with Github Actions is a plus.
9. Optimize system performance through software enhancements and refactoring.
10. Drive automation initiatives to streamline development processes and reduce manual effort.
11. Utilize APIs/SDKs and develop custom code to integrate BI tools with existing systems and data sources.
12. Ensure secure access and data integrity, implementing robust data security measures and maintaining compliance.
13. Lead capacity planning and disaster recovery solutions through software design and infrastructure planning.
14. Partner with the SRE team to build effective measurement and monitoring systems for BI.
15. Collaborate with BI tool vendors and contribute to open-source projects to enhance BI capabilities.
16. Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in BI and data platform development to drive innovation.
17. Participate in strategic planning to align technology initiatives with business goals.

Experience you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 4+ years of experience in software development, especially in building data platforms or BI solutions.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing integration solutions for BI tools within complex data architectures.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Rich experience in designing high-quality, efficient solutions for medium to large complex problems.
• Proficiency in languages like Java, C#, Go, & Python, including coding, testing, and monitoring.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including data storage, processing, and analytics services.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with best practices in software development, including code reviews, TDD, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Knowledge of data security, secure access protocols, IAM/IDP, and SSO/SAML.
• Additional skills include system architecture design, performance optimization, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and team mentorship. Prior experience with ThoughtSpot, Tableau, and DataIku is highly desirable but not mandatory.

The base pay range is $120,000 to $160,000, with actual compensation based on qualifications and skills. Benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, HSA, FSA, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, and more.
