Openkrill is seeking software engineers to join an early-stage medical AI company building a real-time surgical copilot. You will own components across the stack from backend services to edge software, with exposure to production-grade data pipelines and interfaces for surgeons and researchers.

The role emphasizes hands-on contributions, cross-functional collaboration with CV/ML teams, and growth through shipping reliable software with strong testing and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience; senior candidates welcome.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, or Angular).
• Experience building or integrating APIs and backend services.
• Strong fundamentals in debugging, testing, asynchronous programming, and version control.
• Comfort working with Git and Linux-based development environments.

Responsibilities

• Ship backend services and APIs powering internal tools and the medical device platform.
• Build and maintain data pipelines connecting devices to cloud processing and Diagnostics.
• Turn surgical video, imaging, and AI outputs into usable interfaces for engineers and researchers.
• Move research prototypes into production-quality software with tests and documentation.
• Drive testing, CI/CD, and containerization practices as the platform grows.
• Collaborate with CV, ML, and design teams to deliver end-to-end software.
• Support development practices aligned with medical-grade regulatory standards.
