XCEL Engineering, Inc. seeks a versatile Full Stack Software Engineer to support multiple DOE R&D projects. This on-site role requires collaboration with government clients and technical teams across the full development lifecycle—from requirements to design, development, testing, deployment and long-term support.

The successful candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a structured, security-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or equivalent with 8 years software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years of professional full-stack development experience.
• Experience delivering production-ready applications end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with government clients and internal stakeholders to gather requirements.
• Design, architect, and develop full-stack applications from concept to completion.
• Work on multiple projects with varying timelines and scopes.
• Develop scalable backend services and APIs.
• Build responsive front-end interfaces aligned with UI/UX best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and optimization.
• Maintain documentation for architecture, code, and processes.
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and federal R&D standards.
• Provide ongoing maintenance and support for deployed apps.
