Job summary

Waystar, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer in the Patient Payments squad to design, build, test, and maintain full stack solutions used by health system staff and patients.

We value collaboration with product, UX, and other engineers, a pragmatic approach to reducing tech debt, and mentoring teammates as we scale our Vue and PHP-based applications on AWS. Open to mid-level and senior engineers who care about user experience and code quality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional full stack web development experience.
• Object-oriented programming with PHP.
• Relational databases with MySQL.
• Modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.
• Experience with AWS SQS and distributed systems.
• Testing: unit and integration testing.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, etc.).
• Agile development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software across the full SDLC.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to understand requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring quality and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Contribute to improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
