Job summary

BidBuddy is seeking an experienced, hands-on engineer to take technical ownership of the existing platform and lead its continued development. This role blends full-stack development, AWS infrastructure management, and practical technical leadership, working directly with the founder to translate customer needs into reliable features.

This is a hands-on development role, not a management-only position. You will own features from planning through production, investigatng problems, and making

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and maintaining production web apps.
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Hands-on AWS experience, especially serverless architectures.
• Experience with APIs, auth, authz, and DB design.
• Experience with DynamoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with IaC, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing.
• Ability to understand an existing app and improve it independently.
• Ability to explain decisions to a founder and balance speed with reliability.
• Comfort writing and maintaining code as the primary technical owner.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technical handoff from the current partner and own the codebase.
• Improve the existing app incrementally rather than rewriting it.
• Develop frontend features with React/TypeScript and backend with Node.js/AWS Lambda.
• Improve workflows for property managers, bidders, and vendors.
• Develop APIs, data models, auth, and RBAC.
• Maintain AWS infrastructure (DynamoDB, S3, Cognito) with CDK.
• Improve AI-assisted document and bid-analysis workflows.
• Strengthen automated deployments and testing practices.
• Monitor reliability, troubleshoot, and manage cloud costs.
• Protect data with proper permissions and secure practices.
• Translate business needs into concrete plans and realistic estimates.
• Document the system to onboard future engineers.
