Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong frontend skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js with SSR experience.
• Backend expertise with Python and Django, RESTful APIs, data modeling and scalable services.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and design to define and build user experiences across the stack.
• Evolve scalable frontend and backend architectures for performance and maintainability.
• Lead frontend work with React/TypeScript and Next.js; implement SSR and data fetching optimizations.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical to our Early Bets initiatives, which focus on developing new experiences and products to expand our ecosystem and better serve our users. The ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguous environments, demonstrating a strong ability to define and implement scalable technical solutions from the ground up. You will work closely with product teams to translate requirements into innovative, high-quality software solutions that support our rapid product evolution.

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical architecture of our full stack systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and maintainable. Candidates with backgrounds in early-stage, high-scale software products or research and development for emerging technologies will find this role particularly fitting. The position is remote within the US, with some in-office requirements for candidates located near our headquarters in Mountain View.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• You should have strong proficiency in modern frontend development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with experience in server-side rendering and performance optimization.
• Additionally, you should be well-versed in backend development using Python and Django, including RESTful API design, data modeling, and scalable service architecture.
• You should have a minimum of 4+ years of industry experience, with demonstrated expertise across both frontend and backend disciplines.
• Experience designing and operating backend systems at scale, including database management, caching, queuing, and third-party API integrations, is essential.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, along with experience in CI/CD practices, testing strategies, and observability, will be highly valued.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools is a plus, reflecting our commitment to leveraging innovative technologies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product and design teams to define, build, and refine user experiences across the entire technology stack, utilizing modern frontend and backend frameworks.
• Own and evolve the architecture of both frontend and backend systems to ensure they are scalable, performant, accessible, and maintainable over time.
• Lead the design and development of complex frontend systems using React, TypeScript, and Next.js, including server-side rendering, routing, data fetching, and optimization for performance.
• Design and implement robust backend services and APIs with Python and Django, emphasizing reliability, security, and scalability.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards across the full stack, including coding patterns, tooling, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive cross-team technical initiatives, ensuring alignment between frontend and backend architecture with overall platform capabilities and product goals.
• Proactively identify potential technical risks and opportunities, offering clear guidance and tradeoff analysis to stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide engineers across both frontend and backend disciplines, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Develop comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end automation tests, to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Monitor key metrics related to performance, reliability, and user behavior, using insights to inform ongoing product and technical improvements.
