Job summary

Digital Waffle in Sunnyvale, CA is hiring a Software Engineer to help build the core video intelligence platform. You’ll work across backend services, AI-driven features, and customer-facing frontends to enable real-time, language-guided search and detections.

You will collaborate with a small, ambitious team on cloud-native infrastructure, scalable pipelines, and high-availability systems, writing Go/Python/C++ on the backend and TypeScript/React on the frontend, on-site in Sunnyvale.

Qualifications

• Strong Go, Python or C++, plus real experience with modern frontend stacks.
• Comfort with distributed systems, containers and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Startup experience building from scratch, or scale-up experience and a clear sense of what good looks like.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development — and opinions on where it works and where it doesn’t.

Responsibilities

Our client is putting multimodal LLMs on every camera and sensor — natural-language video search, real-time firearm detection, intelligent access control, agentic workflows that actually do something when they see it. About the Role

Software Engineer on the core engineering team, building the systems behind the video intelligence platform. Genuinely full-stack and genuinely hard:

Responsibilities

• Backend services ingesting, processing and serving video and sensor data at scale
• AI-native features shipped end to end — natural-language search, real-time detections, agentic workflows on multimodal LLMs and computer vision
• User-facing frontends in TypeScript and React, working directly with product
• APIs and systems interfacing with the ML pipelines and the edge device fleet
• Distributed systems, real-time processing and high availability, with architecture decisions made from the ground up

The stack

• Kubernetes on AWS, Pulumi for infrastructure as code
