Govra is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to help build an intelligent operating system for governments. You'll collaborate with founders, customers, and design teams to ship vital systems quickly.

Your role includes designing workflows, maintaining quality in code, and evolving engineering infrastructure. If you have experience with Elixir, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are passionate about improving government, this could be your place.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software.
• Experience or strong interest in learning functional programming with Elixir and Phoenix LiveView.
• Comfortable working on early products as they scale from MVP to production.

About the role

We are seeking a Full-Stack Engineer to help build and scale Govra's intelligent operating system for governments. You will work closely with the founders, customers, and product design teams to ship vital real systems in a fast-moving, high-impact environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong full-stack foundation who wants to deepen their technical judgment, think from first principles about product and UX, and move quickly from customer workflows to production code. Our stack includes Elixir, Phoenix LiveView, PostgreSQL, Docker, Tailwind CSS, AWS and Terraform.

What you'll do

• Build core product systems: Research, design, and implement features and improvements across our platform, with increasing ownership as you grow.
• Design and improve government workflows: Develop intelligent systems that help agencies automate complex processes and turn operational work into intuitive software.
• Move fast while maintaining quality: Ship production code quickly while balancing reliability, maintainability, observability, and sound technical decisions.
• Evolve our engineering infrastructure: Contribute to improvements across GCP, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, deployment automation, and the systems that help us ship reliably.
• Drive clear, accountable execution: Scope work, estimate effort, communicate tradeoffs and progress clearly, and consistently follow through on the systems you own.

Experience & Requirements

• Have approximately 3-7 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software
• Ideally have experience with functional programming through work, side projects or a strong interest in learning Elixir and Phoenix LiveView
• Have startup experience or are comfortable working on early products as they scale from MVP to production
• Can design and build intuitive user experiences, seeking guidance and partnering with design on complex flows when needed
• Actively seek out user feedback and translate customer insights into product improvements
• Are willing to spend two weeks per quarter in person with customers
• Are curious and excited about making government work better
• Thrive in fast-paced environments and can navigate ambiguity to deliver high-quality products
