Job summary

Hertz’s TNC team is building the backbone for partnerships with rideshare platforms like Uber and Lyft. The role focuses on designing and developing robust backend systems that enable high-volume, low-latency integrations with TNC partners and contributing to full-stack features on web and backend frameworks.

You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and external partners to deliver solutions that align with business goals, while mentoring teammates and driving engineering best

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–4 years hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong development experience in at least one modern backend language such as Java, C#, Python, or Go.
• Frontend experience with React is a plus.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, SQL/NoSQL, and API design (REST/GraphQL/gRPC).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and Agile teams.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Growth mindset and adaptability.
• Bonus: Telematics, mobility, ride-sharing, or third-party integrations.

Hertz’s TNC (Transportation Network Companies) team builds the backbone for our partnerships with top rideshare platforms like Uber and Lyft. What You’ll Do

• Design and develop:Architect and implement robust backend systems supporting high-volume, low-latency integrations between Hertz and TNC partners.
• Full stack contributions: Building user-facing features using modern web and backend frameworks.
• Project lifecycle:Participate in all phases, from requirements analysis, design, and proof-of-concept, to development, testing, launch, and ongoing support.
• Collaboration:Work closely with product managers, engineers, and external partners to define requirements and deliver solutions that support business goals.
• Technical leadership:Share knowledge, mentor team members, and help shape our team’s engineering best practices.
• Continuous improvement:Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and architectural enhancements.

What We’re Looking For

• Education & experience:Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience. 2-4; years hands-on software engineering experience.
• Backend proficiency:Strong development experience in at least one modern backend language, such asJava, C#, Python, or Go.
• Frontend proficiency:Development experience with React JavaScript framework is a plus.
• Data & API skills:Solid understanding of data modeling, SQL or NoSQL databases, and API design and development (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC).
• Cloud:Experience developing and deploying solutions on AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud environments; exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Development workflow:Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and working in agile teams.
• Communication:Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work cross-functionally and with external partners.
• Growth mindset:Demonstrated history of adapting to new technologies and practices as the team and business evolve.
• Bonus:Experience with telematics, mobility, ride-sharing, or third-party platform integrations.

We expect the starting salary to be around $90k but will be commensurate with experience.
