Job summary

Steampunk seeks a Full Stack Developer to join our DevSecOps practice in the McLean, VA area. You will deliver software features, APIs, and micro-service solutions with a Drupal focus, leveraging PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

You will work within Agile and DevSecOps pipelines, manage CI/CD processes, implement automated tests, perform code reviews, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring secure, scalable web applications.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
  • BS degree in IT or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of total professional experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Drupal experience (Drupal 8/9/10).
  • 3+ years of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • 3+ years of experience with GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, TravisCI).
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks, including unit testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy modular micro-services and cloud-based systems including Drupal-based web applications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and translate needs to the development team.
  • Write and debug code for Drupal modules and themes; ensure code quality.
  • Troubleshoot security, reliability, and performance issues in software.
  • Participate in code reviews and QA activities.
  • Automate unit and functional tests.
  • Test code written by others and analyze results.
  • Ensure security against cyber threats following Drupal and web app security best practices.
  • Document code, features, and training guides; describe as-is environment and gaps.
  • Leverage virtualization and containers to modernize software systems.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement.

Job description

Overview

As a Full Stack Developer, you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice delivering software features, APIs, and micro-service solutions. We are looking for candidates with at least 5 years of full stack development experience, including experience developing and maintaining Drupal-based web applications, using Agile and DevSecOps methods such as build/release management, CI/CD practices, and test automation.

Contributions
  • Design, develop, and deploy modular micro-services and cloud-based systems, including Drupal-based webapplications
  • Understand the needs of stakeholders and convey those needs to other developers
  • Write and debug code for innovative software solutions, including custom Drupal modules and themes
  • Troubleshoot software quality, security, and reliability issues
  • Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities
  • Automate unit and functional tests
  • Test and examine code written by others and analyze results
  • Ensure that software is secure against cyber threats, including adherence to Drupal and web applicationsecurity best practices
  • Identify technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop software updates and fixesDocument software code, features, and training guides
  • Document the as-is state of the environment, perform gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate optionsand recommendations
  • Leverage virtualization and containerization to optimize and modernize software systems
  • Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members
  • Engineer and implement solutions and provide recommendations for continuous improvement for the servicesprovided
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
  • BS degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field with 2 years of related IT experience
  • 3+ years of total professional experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on Drupal experience to include developing custom Drupal modules, themes, and siteconfigurations (Drupal 8/9/10)
  • 3+ years of experience with PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • 3+ years of experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket
  • Experience working in one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, orTravisCI
  • Experience implementing Docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Experience implementing automated testing frameworks, including unit testing

Preferred:

  • Experience integrating Drupal with APIs and backend services
  • Familiarity with Drupal security and accessibility best practices (e.g., Section 508)
  • Cloud-related certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience developing applications in an Agile environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $85,000 to $170,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
