Job summary

Steampunk seeks a Software Development Architect (Drupal) to join its DevSecOps practice in McLean, VA. You will design, build, and deploy Drupal-based web applications, APIs, and microservices using Agile and CI/CD methodologies.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of full-stack development, strong Drupal expertise, and experience with cloud, containers, and automated testing. You will mentor juniors and contribute to secure, scalable solutions for federal clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy modular micro-services and cloud-based systems including Drupal-based web applications.
  • Understand stakeholder needs and communicate requirements to the development team.
  • Write and debug code for Drupal modules and themes; automate testing and CI/CD processes.
  • Troubleshoot security, quality, and reliability issues; participate in code reviews.
  • Document code, features, and training materials; mentor junior team members.

Job description

Overview

As a Software Development Architect (Drupal), you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice delivering software features, APIs, and micro-service solutions. We are looking for candidates with at least 8 years of full stack development experience, including experience developing and maintaining Drupal-based web applications, using Agile and DevSecOps methods such as build/release management, CI/CD practices, and test automation.

Contributions
  • Design, develop, and deploy modular micro-services and cloud-based systems, including Drupal-based webapplications
  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to other developers
  • Write and debug code for innovative software solutions, including custom Drupal modules and themes
  • Troubleshoot software quality,security and reliability issues
  • Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities
  • Automate unit and functional tests
  • Test and examine code written by others and analyzing results
  • Evaluate,identify and develop complex software solutions using APIs, microservices, and cloud-native solutions
  • Ensure that software is secure against cyber threats, including adherence to Drupal and web applicationsecurity best practices
  • Identifying technical problems, performing root cause analysis, and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
  • Support production releases (including deployment, troubleshooting, and testing)
  • Document software code, features, and training guides
  • Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
  • Leverage virtualization and containerization tooptimize and modernize software systems
  • Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members
  • Engineer and implement solutions andprovide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided
Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
  • BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience
  • 8 Years of experience with one or more programming languages (Java, Ruby, react, C++, C)
  • 8 Years of experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
  • 8 Years of experience with one or more programming or scripting languages (Python, Bash, JavaScript)
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
  • 5 Years of experience with one or more clouds (I.e. AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • 5 Years of experience using CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, TravisCI
  • 3+ years of hands-on Drupal experience to include developing custom Drupal modules, themes, and siteconfigurations (Drupal 8/9/10)
  • Experience implementing docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Experience implementing Automated Testing frameworks including unit testing

Preferred:

  • Experience integrating Drupal with APIs and backend servicesFamiliarity with Drupal security and accessibility best practices (e.g., Section 508)
  • Certifications:
    • AWS Cloud Practitioner
    • AWS Solution Architect Professional
    • Azure Developer Associate
  • 5 years of application development experience in an Agile environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,000 to $225,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
