Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Software Engineer to design and enhance scalable applications and REST APIs using .NET technologies, focusing on performance, security, and resilience. You’ll work in an Agile environment across disciplines, applying problem solving to production challenges.

This role is on-site in Austin, with opportunities to explore Generative AI workflows and automation to improve engineering efficiency.

Qualifications

Within Workplace Services Engineering, you’ll help modernize platforms that support equity administration, retirement plan services, and other workplace financial solutions used by millions of participants.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll design and enhance scalable applications and REST APIs using .Net technologies while improving platform performance, stability, security, and resilience. You’ll apply problem solving and technical troubleshooting to resolve complex production challenges, modernize legacy components, and reduce technology and compliance risks. Working in an Agile environment, you’ll collaborate across disciplines, influence technical decisions, and adapt solutions as business needs evolve. You’ll also explore opportunities to use Generative AI and automation to improve engineering efficiency, quality, and outcomes.

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of application development, software engineering, or application support experience within an enterprise environment
• Experience developing and maintaining REST APIs using .Net technologies
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in production environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of distributed systems, scalable application architectures, and cloud-based design principles
• Experience with DevOps and continuous integration and continuous deployment practices
• Experience developing modern Web Applications using frontend technologies
• Familiarity with secure software development practices
• Experience conducting root-cause analysis and resolving complex technical challenges
• Experience working in an Agile Collaboration environment
• Familiarity with Generative AI workflows and AI-enabled automation
• Ability to apply Problem Solving, communicate effectively, and influence peers and stakeholders
