Full-Stack Architect
Location: Tempe, Arizona (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Full-Stack Architect to join a dynamic team operating in a startup-like environment. The ideal candidate will provide architectural leadership, work across the entire technology stack, and advise on platform scalability. This role is integral to high-impact projects, including a major technology migration and the expansion of a new platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance Java applications aligned with enterprise standards and architectural guidelines.
- Advise on large-scale architecture decisions and platform enhancements.
- Collaborate with solution architects to design scalable microservices architectures and robust API contracts.
- Develop, expose, and consume RESTful and/or SOAP web services across distributed systems.
- Integrate with relational and NoSQL databases, writing and optimizing queries for performance and reliability.
- Participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Work within Agile/Scrum frameworks, including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
- Support DevOps practices by contributing to and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Work on key projects including technology migration and new platform development.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience, with a strong preference for Java 11, 17, or 21.
- Deep proficiency in the Spring Framework ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
- Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures at an enterprise scale.
- Strong architectural experience with the ability to work across the entire tech stack.
- Experience with cloud platforms, with Azure being important.
- Solid grounding in OOP principles, software design patterns, and SOLID design principles.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.
- Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or comparable tooling.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating or extending NCR platforms is desirable.
- Retail POS experience, specifically related to NCR.
- Familiarity with message broker technologies such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB, Redis, or Amazon DynamoDB.
- Knowledge of API gateway tools and service mesh solutions (e.g., Kong, Istio).
- Exposure to front-end technologies such as React.
- Relevant industry certifications, such as Oracle Java SE Certified Professional or AWS Certified Developer.
