OpenAI is seeking Software Engineers to tackle high-impact problems across our stack. You will join a nimble team deploying OpenAI technology into diverse environments that power critical missions in the public sector.

You will work with product, security, and compliance teams, and directly with customers to design and build new features and products with real-world impact. The role offers breadth and depth across deployment, performance, and safety considerations.

Qualifications

• US citizen with authorization to work in the US.
• 9+ years of engineering experience at tech/product-focused companies.
• Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and other web technologies.
• Proficiency with Python as a backend language.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform or related infrastructure tooling.
• Interest in AI/ML and deploying AI responsibly.
• Ability to move fast in loosely defined environments with competing priorities.
• Interest in enabling public sector use cases with unique requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end development of new customer-facing ChatGPT and OpenAI API features for public sector customers, on-premises and in the cloud.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and compliance to fit products into new environments.
• Talk to users to understand problems and design solutions.
• Partner with research to iterate models and data-layer solutions for public sector needs.
• Work with a cross-functional team to create cutting-edge products.
• Optimize applications for speed and scale.
