Job summary

Pepsi Bottling Ventures is seeking a Trainee-DOT to join our delivery team. This role trains on route delivery, safety checks, loading, merchandising, and customer service across multiple store types, while complying with DOT/FMCSA rules.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre/post-trip inspection on truck according to DOT requirements and promptly reports problems to the fleet department.
  • Safely drives and maneuvers a truck with a gross vehicle weight of up to 26,000 pounds.
  • Safely unloads product, ensuring proper check-in procedures.
  • Stocks shelves, racks, coolers, and displays, ensuring proper rotation.
  • Breaks down boxes and removes flats, damages, and empty cases to ensure proper credit is given.
  • Obtains required signatures, store stamps, and invoices for end-of-day settlement.
  • Communicates issues to appropriate store personnel and management.
  • Follows all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Trainee-DOT Role Overview

The Trainee DOT is primarily responsible for learning all aspects of a Route Delivery Driver role, including the safe and efficient operation of the delivery vehicle. The Trainee DOT will service accounts (Bulk, Small Format, On‑Premise, and Dollar General) along a designated route efficiently and effectively by delivering, unloading, and merchandising products in customer accounts according to PBV and customer standards, adhering to all company, state, and federal safety and driving regulations.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Conducts pre/post‑trip inspection on truck according to DOT requirements and promptly reports problems to the fleet department.
  • Safely drives and maneuvers a truck having a gross vehicle weight of under or over 26,000 pounds.
  • Safely unloads product, ensuring proper check‑in procedures.
  • Stocks shelves, racks, coolers, and displays, ensuring proper rotation.
  • Breaks down boxes and removes flats, damages, and empty cases to ensure proper credit is given.
  • Obtains required signatures, store stamps, and invoices to ensure proper settlement at the end of the day.
  • Communicates issues to appropriate store personnel and management.
  • Follows all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of commercial driving experience with a CDL is preferred.
  • Class A CDL required.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical prior to first day of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL permit within 45 business days if CDL is not currently held.
  • Positive attitude and must be detail oriented.
  • Perform basic financial calculations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to meet PBV driving qualifications.
  • Must be able to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.
