Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA, seeks a Fulfillment Buyer (Starship) to manage procurement across multiple commodities, collaborating with capital projects, facilities, and production teams. The role requires working on-site in Hawthorne, with a fast-moving environment and strong emphasis on cost, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities include issuing POs, reviewing quotes, expediting parts, resolving invoices, and supporting supplier onboarding while driving cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years in supply chain, production, or engineering in lieu of a degree.
• Preferred: purchasing experience related to capital equipment or indirect buying.
• Strong problem solving with speed, ability to learn quickly, and prioritize to meet needs.
• Excellent customer service, written/verbal/presentations, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; high integrity.

Responsibilities

• Review purchase requests and issue purchase orders promptly and accurately.
• Ensure purchase orders are acknowledged by suppliers and align with SpaceX terms.
• Review quotes for completeness and alignment with terms.
• Obtain original promise date from suppliers and manage deliveries.
• Resolve invoice issues and ensure timely payment.
• Expedite parts as needed and act as SpaceX internal customer service.
• Support cost savings initiatives and lead procurement projects.

FULFILLMENT BUYER (STARSHIP)

We are a progressive procurement organization pushing the boundaries of traditional procurement reputation and methodologies. We are looking for individuals who can think outside the box to achieve company objectives regarding value and partnerships with our suppliers. Our organization moves quickly, and you must too. SpaceX has the unique ability and desire to influence and shape suppliers to be better with us as we challenge our supply chain on cost, quality and delivery. This Fulfillment Buyer will support Hawthorne's purchases across multiple commodities, stakeholders (capital projects, facility management, production, etc.) and supply chain team clusters.

We are looking for the right person who is equipped and ready for these challenges to join our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review purchase request and issue purchase orders in a timely manner without error
• Ensure purchase orders are acknowledged by suppliers
• Review quotes to ensure those are complete and align with SpaceX terms
• Obtain the original promise date from suppliers
• Review open order reports and manage deliveries
• Resolve invoice issues and ensure that vendors are paid on time
• Expedite parts as necessary
• Act as customer service for SpaceX internal customers
• Support buyers in cost savings initiatives
• Lead miscellaneous procurement projects
• Lead supplier onboarding process

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree; or 4+ years of professional experience working in a supply chain, production, or engineering function in lieu of a degree

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Purchasing experience, specifically related to capital equipment or indirect buying
• Remarkable problem-solving skills with a bias for speed
• Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs

• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
• Strong technical knowledge of MS Office Suite

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed
• This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
Level 1: $27.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
