Job summary

Heritage Cooperative in Waterford, OH is seeking a Fuel Transport Driver to safely operate fuel delivery trucks and provide exceptional service to customers. This full-time role requires a CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements, DOT compliance, and strong safety skills.

You will load and unload petroleum products, verify orders, and maintain accurate delivery records while upholding our safety standards and customer focus.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous fuel transportation or petroleum industry experience.
• Previous experience operating tanker trucks or other bulk transport vehicles.
• Previous experience delivering gasoline, diesel, propane, or other petroleum products.
• CDL Class A with HazMat and Tanker endorsements.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, hazardous materials, and petroleum transportation regulations.
• Experience operating fuel pumps, meters, valves, hoses, and related transfer equipment.
• Experience with commercial, agricultural, or residential fuel delivery.
• Previous experience working directly with customers and managing delivery schedules.
• Familiarity with fuel terminal and bulk plant loading procedures.
• Previous experience in an energy, petroleum, transportation, agricultural, or cooperative environment.

• Safely operate fuel transport trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles to deliver fuel products to customers and cooperative facilities.
• Transport gasoline, diesel, propane, and/or other petroleum products as assigned.
• Load fuel products at terminals, bulk plants, refineries, or other designated loading facilities.
• Safely unload and transfer fuel products into customer tanks, storage tanks, and other approved receiving systems.
• Verify product type, quantity, destination, and delivery instructions before and during each delivery.
• Properly connect and disconnect hoses, fittings, valves, meters, and other fuel-transfer equipment.
• Operate pumps, meters, valves, and related equipment used in the loading and unloading of fuel.
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any vehicle or equipment concerns.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, delivery tickets, inspection records, fuel records, and other required documentation.
• Follow all applicable DOT, state, federal, environmental, fire, and hazardous materials regulations.
• Comply with all company safety policies and procedures regarding fuel transportation, loading, unloading, and delivery.
• Follow proper procedures to prevent fuel spills, leaks, contamination, and environmental releases.
• Immediately report spills, leaks, damaged equipment, accidents, or other safety and environmental concerns.
• Maintain awareness of road conditions, weather, weight restrictions, site conditions, and other factors that may affect safe transportation and delivery.
• Safely position the vehicle at customer locations and ensure the delivery area is secure before transferring product.
• Provide professional, courteous, and responsive customer service during fuel deliveries.
• Communicate customer questions, concerns, product needs, or delivery issues to the appropriate Energy Division personnel.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, terminal personnel, Energy Division employees, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
• Maintain the assigned truck, trailer, hoses, pumps, meters, and other equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
• Monitor vehicle and fuel-transfer equipment for maintenance needs and report issues promptly.
• Maintain required inventory of safety equipment, delivery supplies, and other necessary materials.
• Participate in required safety meetings, training, inspections, and continuing education.
• Maintain all required licenses, certifications, endorsements, and medical qualifications.
• Work varying schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call periods, as needed to meet customer and business needs.
• Support other Energy Division activities based on seasonal and operational needs.
• Abide by all safety regulations to ensure safety of oneself, coworkers and customers.
• Develop new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and referrals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull hoses, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use hands and arms repetitively when operating valves, pumps, meters, and related equipment.
• Ability to perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Ability to safely secure and position equipment during fuel loading and unloading.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including safety footwear, gloves, eye protection, and other protective equipment.
• Ability to work safely in a variety of customer and transportation environments.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight.
• Work may occur at fuel terminals, bulk plants, cooperative facilities, farms, commercial businesses, customer locations, and public roadways.
• Exposure to gasoline, diesel fuel, petroleum vapors, odors, fumes, dust, dirt, and other environmental conditions associated with fuel transportation and delivery.
• Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials and flammable products.
• May work around moving vehicles, tanker trailers, pumps, loading racks, fuel storage tanks, and other industrial equipment.
• May encounter uneven, wet, muddy, icy, or slippery surfaces.
• May work near traffic and in areas with limited or restricted access.
• May respond to fuel spills, leaks, accidents, or other emergency situations.
• Seasonal and emergency operations may require extended or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and severe weather conditions.
• Must follow all applicable PPE, environmental, hazardous materials, fire prevention, and safety requirements.
