Job summary

Chugach Electric Association seeks a Manager, Fuel Supply and Operations to oversee generation fuel resources, including natural gas supply, transportation, and storage, ensuring safe and cost-effective power delivery.

The role includes reconciling fuel and economy power transactions, managing commercial agreements, and leading the Fuel Operations division. The incumbent will plan budgets and support emergency response activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, Logistic, or related discipline.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, including supervisory, in the natural gas industry, electric/gas utility sector, gas transportation operations within an interconnected system with generation facilities.
• Experience in a utility or union environment, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage fuel requirements for generation facilities by coordinating with power dispatchers, fuel suppliers, pipelines, and storage operators.
• Oversee fuel nomination, scheduling, and balancing fuel supply over pipelines and storage systems.
• Develop and maintain the production cost models, fuel forecasting and annual fuel budget.
• Develop and implement procedures to reconcile natural gas, other fuel resources and economy power transactions, including Power Pool.
• Monitor real-time SCADA information and review data affecting consumer demand and submit intraday scheduling changes.
• Participate in emergency response and take a leading role in storm restoration, natural disasters and other emergency events.
