Job summary

The City of Unalaska is seeking a Fuel Operator to safely dispense fuel and lubricants for City vehicles and equipment, while maintaining inventory and performing routine servicing. The role requires attention to safety, OSHA compliance, and independent work in varying weather conditions.

Minimum two years in vehicle repair plus a high school diploma are required; Alaska CDL-B with X endorsements is needed within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fueling procedures for gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuels.
• Knowledge of safe fuel handling, storage, and dispensing practices.
• Ability to safely operate fuel trucks and related fueling equipment.
• Ability to inspect fueling equipment, tanks, and hoses for issues.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely dispensing fuel and lubricants to City vehicles and machinery.
• Maintain accurate fuel inventory records and monitor fueling systems.
• Perform routine inspections, fluid servicing, and basic maintenance tasks.
• Ensure all fueling activities comply with safety regulations and environmental rules.
• Support general shop operations and emergency readiness.
